-          find out where it comes from the alternative Rock.

                                                 THEORETICAL  BACKGROUND.

R.E.M. was a rock band formed in Athens, Georgia in 1980 by lead singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry, American. The first popular alternative rock bands, R.E.M. quickly got attention by the arpeggiated style of the guitar of Buck and Stipe's unclear vocals. R.E.M. released its first single, 'Radio Free Europe', in 1981 on the independent record label Hib-Tone. Soon expand across the State and in 1982 released an EP, Chronic Town, with the record label I.R.S. Records.2 combining folk rock and punk achieved criticism define them as authentic music innovators. Soon its expansion translates to across the country.
At the beginning of the 1990s, R.E.M. was framed as one of the main bands pioneering alternative rock, the band's most successful albums, they released: Out of Time (1991) and Automatic for the People (1992), which consolidated all the way to the group. Monster, the next album, was a return to a sound more oriented towards rock, with which began a tour that was marred by medical emergencies suffered by the band. In 1997, R.E.M. renewed her contract with Warner Bros..

CONCLUSIONS 

We conclude from this work is that throughout the United States there are different bands of different desendencia. Different alternative rock bands doing different activities to promote their music and achieve fame. The rock has several subgenres and was released in the mid-90s. The most recognized bands of this genre are Nirvana, REM and Alternative Rock Radiohead.El is characterized by faint sounds with the guitars, bass and a voice strong enough.
